Product names alone do not answer those questions. Owners and contractors should define the exposure and performance expectations before narrowing system options.
Match preparation to the system
Surface condition and specified preparation drive adhesion and long-term performance. Existing coatings, corrosion, contamination, mill scale, concrete laitance, moisture, and profile all matter. Preparation may include cleaning, pressure washing, mechanical abrasion, power-tool work, or abrasive blasting. The selected coating manufacturer and project specification should remain aligned with the preparation standard.
Plan application conditions and quality checks
Temperature, humidity, dew point, ventilation, access, mixing, induction time, recoat windows, film thickness, and cure time can affect results. A durable system needs a practical application plan and defined inspection checkpoints—not just the right material on a purchase order.
Evaluate lifecycle, not only first cost
The lowest initial material price may not produce the lowest installed or lifecycle cost. Consider preparation, number of coats, access, downtime, future maintenance, and the consequence of premature failure. A complete review helps the project team balance performance with schedule and budget.
